Reenactor Roundtable Schedule

Updated March 4, 2009

Thanks to all of you who came out to exchange information on the upcoming season. It was a productive meeting - mostly a great chance to "network" with others about their events and get information. It was great seeing everyone. There are still a few things that need to be proof-read and corroborated with the various flyers and web sites... but rather than wait until all of that is completed... here it is...

One thing that was brought up at the meeting that I think is worth getting your feedback. This meeting is held every year generally in January because that is when it was originally set up some over 20 years ago. The suggestion was made to maybe move it to November. This would do several things - 1)Give everyone an extra head-start on planning for the next year; 2) Give us time to promote events with the Michigan Sesquicentennial Commission; 3) Hopefully avoid some of the awful weather we have tended to encounter in January.

What do you think? Is having a meeting in November worth a try for 2009? Of course if your event's information isn't completely together by November we have the web site for updates, changes, etc.

One other idea I had during this last meeting... Meeting for a time to discuss things such as the sesquicentennial, etc. before the scheduling meeting. If you were interested in learning more, discussion, etc. we could meet perhaps in mid-morning and have about an hour or an hour-and-a-half discussion session... break for a couple hours for lunch... then have the scheduling meeting. Those that wanted to come to the early meeting, could. We'd post the items discussed, but if you wanted to attend you'd have an opportunity to have your say. Again... just a thought. Give me your feedback.

Thanks to Barry Stuler and Doug McComas from the 7th Michigan for their invaluable help in putting this scheduling meeting together.

If you have questions, please contact me. Thank you for supporting living history

E-mail for questions or info

Thanks again -

Dave

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Discussion during the middle portion of the meeting centered on the 150th anniversary of the civil war and how reenactors can influence what is done to commemorate it with events around the state, and special activities we all are involved with. The two e-mails below are for John Gibney and Tom Berlucchi who can shed some light on what is being planned. We will have a special meeting in November to discuss the sesquicentennial.
